Ashburn Inline Hockey

Fall 2010

Important Notice:  Due to unforeseen cuts by Dulles SportsPlex (DSP), we cannot hold all of our games indoors at DSP this season.  DSP notified us in June that available time slots for youth hockey on Sundays was being reduced to make room for year-round (four-season) reservations for adult inline hockey and Fairfax Adult Volleyball.  All of our efforts over the last couple months to reverse this decision by DSP have been futile (hence, the delay in opening registration). 

In response to this action, there will be several changes this fall.  U12 Pee Wee / Squirt and U-14 Bantam Divisions will continue to play at Dulles SportsPlex on Sundays.  U-8 Mites tentatively will play most games at Trailside; however, we are exploring other opportunities for our Mites at both DSP and The Box.  Trailside Rink has been fully resurfaced and is ready for action.

The HS Varsity division will play indoors at The Box in Chantilly.  Moving the Varsity Division to The Box provides two great advantages.  Our high school players will have two games per week (Wed/Sun) and play against six to eight other HS teams from Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, and Fauquier Counties.  We will be keeping our HS Division intact, and there will be no additional registration charge this season.  Players we have spoken to in the HS Division are very excited about this opportunity.

In addition, Mites and U-14 players may have the opportunity to play extra inter-league games at The Box.  More news to come on that later.

Although we are unhappy with the decision by DSP to cut hours from youth hockey, we are committed to turning a negative into a positive.  This decision has given us the opportunity to rethink possibilities and explore new options.  For those who remember, our league was never stronger than when we played all of our games outside at Trailside.  Our numbers have steadily dwindled since making the move to the SportsPlex.  Regardless of format, we are committed ensuring that our fall season is a total success and fun for all.

If you have played in the Spring season, your *USAHockey Inline membership is NOW DUE*;* PRIOR to registration *you will need to register for USAHockey Inline: www.usahockeyregistration.com  Cost is $30 and you will need your registration number and provide it to Ashburn Inline during the registration process on www.sportability.com . 

We now have an Early Bird registration discount of $25 (this is automatic via the registration process) until 8/24 and have other new discounts for full-time goalies (subject to league approval), sibling discounts (during registration process), a new player referral discount (if you refer a new player who has never played at Ashburn Inline, you'll receive a $25 discount), and we also offer New Player discounts if you have never played at Ashburn Inline.  Restrictions apply, no more than 2 discounts per player, the league may verify discounts applied.  (If you have questions and/or to get codes, email us at mailto:ashburninline@verizon.net .)
